March News

First up, some good news with Reaper announcing his works took a turn for the good and he's now able to rejoin our merry bunch :-) Very welcome back mate :-)

The Barrysworld League Season is drawing to an end and it looks like we pulled it off, with only one game to play that we should win easily? (Famous last words!). We lost badly against [MC] last week, they are a very good side that have taken Div. 2A by storm with a late start and they deserved to win, but we played terribly on that map and really need to get our tactics sorted ready for division 1 next season, we are as good as them and let ourselves down badly on the night. This weeks game against 2T was the other extreme, with a 25-0 victory showing our true form. Everybody played brilliantly with great communication. The attackers creating many caps and the defense keeping a clean sheet, well done all!

We've started to get a few good organized practices arranged against other friendly clans. These work well as we can play as a full team to practice, trying new tactics, assured that neither team will post results on their sites so it doesn't matter if a new tactic goes pear shaped. Keep in touch on the forums to play in these as they come up.

Lastly, the 2vs2 clan league has been ditched due to lack of people organizing their own games :(, however plans are afoot to set up a more flexible 1vs1 clan ladder, I'll keep you all posted.

First up we say a sad farewell to Reaper this week, who's had to leave due to RL commitments. Were all very sorry to see you go as you've been a great regular first team member but mainly cause you're a great guy. Good luck from us all and stay in touch. Remember there will ALWAYS be a place for you in our squad any time you want to return.

On the upside we've finally managed to get Doob to sign on the dotted line for us :-) He's going to be a great addition to our team and I for one know that next time I log into Skirmish it's going to be nice to have him on the same side as me for a change ;-) .

As far as the leagues gone, last weeks Barrysworld games were postponed due to server problems, so we play [MC] next Monday instead. Please check the fixtures page for full details.

Its been another busy week again as far as games go, with wins against VWV and ~{HTK}~, well done to those who played, I'm afraid I don't know much about the games, other than they were great games against good opposition. Check the results page for full score details.

Bad luck to the guys that played against {UGM}, we can't win them all, from what I hear they were good matches though and that's what counts :)

Well done to the guys that played in the BW League game against [FHW], we played VERY well, the best IMHO we've ever played as a team, shame we couldn't of made a few more caps :( , but it was still a great game all the same. Only three more matches to go this season, so hopefully we've got this one sown up?  (Famous last words hehe).

The 2 vs. 2 Inter clan league is now set up so make sure you get your matches arranged and played each week. My lovely wife picked the teams at random out of a hat, and I think they've come out quite fair, so this should be a good  bit of fun :). I've already got another idea for next month, but I'll keep it to myself till we've this one out the way.

Thanks to the members of all the clans that have icq'd and emailed me, supporting us on last weeks issue. It's great to know there are mature clans out there that understand right from wrong and are on our side. It's also great to know that people are visiting and reading our site, makes it feel like its actually worth the effort I put in :) . Lets all keep sticking to OUR morals and have fun matches together the way they should be played.

As I've said to you all in IRC I'm setting up a 2-2 Inter clan league , starting next week (hopefully). I'm hoping this should be a lot of fun, so keep your eyes peeled, to see who your team member is and who your first game is against.

It all started this Wednesday, when Ferral booked a GI server for 20.00 GMT  to practice tactics for our upcoming BW match. Some of our members. logged in 10 mins early to see a match going on, politely apologized and immediately left. However, when we logged back in they were still there in the middle of a match. Ferral was in a major rush so he quickly reset the server for us without asking questions, and went to off to work. This is where it went pear shaped. 

[TNGC] got really miffed about this and got VERY abusive, racially and personally. (Which later also extended to a personal threat on GI's forum's) They also refused to leave the server in our booked time, and continued to clown around, also keeping admin control and kicking OUR members off in OUR booked time, ruining our practice session. 

Now, I could understand this if we'd of kicked them off in a sensible organized match, BUT they had only booked the server for 1 hour, to play 3 x 20 min matches!! now everybody that plays UT knows its impossible to to do this, what with server set up, getting your teams on the right side not to mention overtime.  

Where do amateur clans like this get off thinking that everyone else should put themselves out to make up for their mistakes. ~{BTF}~ are sick of meeting unorganized clans that, refuse to leave servers in other peoples time, don't turn up for matches on time or turn up with only half a team!

We pride ourselves in having a high average age, so that we carry ourselves maturely as representatives of this community. We are ALWAYS polite, punctual and organized.

An email was sent to GI admin from all clans concerned, stating their sides of the story, and the reply was that what ~{BTF}~ had done was "simply not cricket", without a single mention of what else had gone on. So ~{BTF}~ end up with a warning for something that "Simply wasn't cricket" when we hadn't technically done ANYTHING wrong, had been polite and abided by the rules at all times. And the other clans don't get mentioned for abuse, racially and personally. (Which also extended to a personal threat) and complete abuse of server admin in somebody else's time.

As these clan's are hosted by GI, it disappoints me to see it's clearly not what you know, but WHO you know, especially in such a growing gaming community like GI.

*Puts on Jerry Springer accent*  What really worries me is the amount of clan's out there, that tolerate abusive, racial  behavior. The whole point of the internet is that it breaks down all barriers, allowing all sorts of people from different age brackets and cultures to play together with no boundaries to divide them. People should stop and think, before they type abuse in game, or choose names like nigga_killer, rapist and child_abuser which are just some I've seen in game. I know the game is aimed at a slightly more mature age group, and in context swearing is fine, but we don't live in a perfect world and we all know that a lot of younger people get to play the game. Would you run into a school playground shouting "My names rapist, and I'm gonna f***** kill you b*******". So don't act like it online, just cause your hidden by the anonymity of the web. Remember, one day it might be your child on the other end of the phone line?
